The first Friday of August, 2022 was the first Magic at Barmacy in Highland Square, Akron Ohio, and it was a very interesting evening!

Jim Klayder arrived at Barmacy about 6:30 PM and was very lucky to get a parking spot only 60 feet from the side door. John, a Barmacy patron, helped carry in a portable PA system, several magic tables, and some magic props. As thanks, Jim bought John a beer and showed him several magic tricks.

By 7:15 the stage was generally set and the featured performer, Trent Rapp, had arrived and was quickly set up for his upcoming show. By 7:45 the monthly host of Freaky Friday, Dave Hudspath, had arrived and set up shop at a high top table near the side door.

At 8:00 there were about 10 people sitting at 3 or 4 tables eager for informal closeup magic at tables. The magic was well received, and everyone had a drink. Two tables ordered food from Town Tacos which has a kitchen at Barmacy and serves GREAT Chicken Quesadillas.

Brook, the Friday night bartender, had arrived, and Jim got to know her during the evening by ordering four of his typical cranberry juice drinks. Brook was busy at the bar, but a few times during the evening was able to view magic happenings from afar.

There were about 15 people in the audience for the 9:00 show. More drinks were consumed, which seemed to make things even more amazing.

About 20 people were at the 10:00 show. Some of the crowd had been there the whole night, but some were just there for the last show. Brook the bartender made more drinks appear, and audience members made all of those drinks disappear.

It was a fun night.

Jim Klayder, our MC for the evening, checked his notes frequently. And he kept repeating, "Magic at Barmacy happens every month on the --- FIRST FRIDAY."

On August 5, 2022, the first night of Magic at Barmacy, Dave Hudspath made a prediction of 8522. He had asked several different audience members to randomly choose some numbers that added up to --- 8522. That's 8/5/22.

Here Dave is in the process of potentially destroying a 20 dollar bill with the help of a skeptical volunteer.



And later, Dave had Tony and Halley each sign a card. The cards were torn in half, and after some fun byplay, they were restored.

But they were restored mismatched.

This was just a small sample of what went on, who was there, and what magic happened. But you really had to be there to believe it all. And, well, I was there and I'm not even sure that I believe it all.
