Bill Bishop
Bill Bishop is an award winning magician, who is equally comfortable
performing all styles of magic. He has performed for theaters
of hundreds and intimate groups of 2 or 3. Bill not only
understands the mechanics of performing, but the psychology behind
it, and uses that understanding to push his magic
to the next level.
Bill has won the Akron Magical Arts Society President’s award and
been voted the “Magician of the Year” by the International
Brotherhood of Magicians, Ring 161. He has lectured on the
psychology of magic and judged at international competitions.
He has taught magic to young and old alike. Bill not only performs
magic, but lectures, teaches and judges it.
Following are some of his accomplishments:
Performer – Bill has performed at dozens of venues for thousands of
people. He has performed at the Akron Civic Theater, the Youngstown
Playhouse, the John S. Knight Center, Blossom Music Center and the
Cabaret Room at Tangiers. He has performed at many restaurants and
was the house magician at both the Pelican Cove restaurant and the
Beer Haus bar/restaurant, in Akron, Ohio. He was the sleight-of-hand
performer for the North American debut of The Illusionists, Seven of
the Greatest Magicians in the World, at E. J. Thomas Performing Arts
Hall.
Lecturer – Bill is a recognized expert on magic and the psychology
behind it. He has lectured at Muhlenberg College as part of their
Theory and Art of Magic Symposium. He has lectured on both the
history and psychology of magic at venues such as the Franklin Club
and Concordia. He taught magic for years at Mr. Fun’s magic shop,
and also gives private lessons.
Gatherings – Bill has several times been a judge at the Magifest and
International Brotherhood of Magicians conventions, where magicians
from all over the world compete against one another for tens of
thousands of dollars in prizes and recognition. He is an attendee of
the exclusive FFFF convention, an invitation-only gathering of the
best close-up performers in the world.
